Our learning environment reflects an extension of your children’s home environment that is warm, loving and welcoming. We consider children as capable builders of their own knowledge!

Our Philosophy

We believe that children learn best when they are interested and engaged, we use their interests as the focus of our programming, as it helps us ensure that learning is not only fun and interesting, but also meaningful and relevant to the individual child and their families.

Here at Chiquito’s children initiate their projects, investigation or play a collaborative role with other children. Our daily routine is flexible and recognizes the individual needs of the children. The children also have the opportunity to carry on excursions that help to extend their learning!

Chiquitos is licenced to care for 4 children per day under the age of five, PLUS three school age for before and after school age. This is an excellent care ratio of one carer to four children.

We value the diversity within Australian society and actively engage in discussions and experiences with children that aim to respect that diversity and challenge  stereotypes and biases. Children are always exposed to a wide range of social and cultural experiences, family types, and abilities so that they may learn from diversity.

We believe that an effective environment requires respect and a way to share and utilize the interests, skills and resources of each member of daycare. We understand the skills, abilities and needs of children, families, and the community are constantly changing, therefore ongoing evaluation is integral to creating a service that is responsive to those needs.

About Us

Chiquitos Family Daycare is a nurturing community made up of children, families and staff which is both part of and supported by emergent curriculum and adhere to guidelines set by ACECQANational Quality Framework and The Early Years Learning Framework, taking the child’s developmental level into account.

We believe  an active learning process can assist children to construct their own knowledge and understanding through at their own pace, building on their strengths, and following their interests. Chiquitos Family Daycare intents to provide an enjoyable and challenging learning environment where children are encouraged to learn through play. Our programs are completed and implemented daily.

Experiences at the Centre afford children the opportunity to develop a plethora of skills in exploration, self-discovery, social interactions and problem solving among others, in the overall attempt to set the children up for success. Educators at Chiquitos Family Daycare complete learning stories while observing the children and share these with parents and guardians upon completion.

We also recognize the importance of listening to the children to better understand their needs, interest and the contribution they make to their families, to Family Daycare and the community. We believe it is important to compliment and support the role of the family in the child’s life by working together in partnership. We value family input into decision-making and intend to draw upon that to improve the quality of the Family Daycare.

Chiquitos Family Daycare Cronulla is  a fully licensed and registered with Sutherland Shire Council Family Daycare, and provides comprehensive public liability insurance.
